The European Commission has given clearance for Office Depot to complete its acquisition of Guilbert’s contract business.

The commission’s investigation of the deal centred on those countries where the activities of the two companies overlap - UK, France, Netherlands and Ireland.

It decided that, following the deal, Depot’s business would still face “sufficient competitive pressure” from competing companies
